Subscribe Ubuntu, ringtones and popularity

I've been trying to find the words to articulate a particular feeling that's been growing in me lately; a odd discontent that's rapidly turning into "what an idiot" sighs whenever I see certain things. While browsing digg tonight, I saw one of them: "3 steps to creating ringtones in Ubuntu". Now, I realize that I'm somewhat of an anachronism on this one, buy I hate cell phones. To me, they represent the worst kind of pop-technology; sort of the same category as those singing Billy Bass fish that everyone's obnoxious uncle was fascinated by a few years back. Ringtones are just the icing on that nauseating cake.
